Windows Vista - The Delay Continues

Microsoft's Windows Vista operating system has been beset with another delay. After clearly pinpointing the holiday season of 2006 for launch, the company has now revised their primary launch period to 2007. Jim Allchin, co-president of Microsoft's Platforms & Services Division, told analysts that the target time has been bumped to January 2007 for all consumer versions of Windows. He also said that editions aimed at business users would be available as early as November through volume licensing programs. "We needed just a few more weeks," Allchin said in a conference call. In a press release, he said "the industry requires greater lead time to deliver Windows Vista on new PCs during holiday. We must optimize for the industry, so we've decided to separate business and consumer availability."
Lian-Li PC777 Anniversary Edition

The PC-777 20th Anniversary Memorial Case. Beautifully designed and crafted, this snail-like case is very impressing. Like most Lian Li cases, the inside is constructed as well as the outside. Inside the case there is plenty of room and two hugh 120mm fans that are lined up to blow across the entire motherboard as well as the hard drives, a well thought out feature. The power supply is mounted at the bottom, but you can tell with close inspection that Lian-Li did put thought into this and wasn't just thrown there for the heck of it, there is a little support on the bottom that the back of the PS sits on giving the PS no air restrictions since every side of it is open.

The conclusion is quite simple. Athlon 64 FX-60 is a missile of a processor and if you thought it was worth the cash to buy one of the previous models of FX then you should place your order for an FX-60 now!

The new Western Digital Raptor X hard drive takes all the technology that made the Raptor 74 GB model so impressive, and improved upon it in many ways. The Raptor X still maintains the ultra-fast 10,000 RPM spin rate that is responsible for most of the high performance numbers that the Raptors provide over the rest of the hard drive world that is still running at 7200 RPM.

The 7900GTX is the top-dog and designed to compete head-to-head against ATIs X1900 XTX card, which it does so quite nicely. Although it has half the amount of total pixel shader units, the move to 90-nanometer means were seeing clock speeds ratcheted up to the point where its 24-pipelines are outpacing the competition.

The Logitech MX518 is one of the best mice I have ever used. The high resolution and fast response time makes it ideal for almost any gamer. The software is useless for the most part but at least installing the software is optional and won't affect the performance of the mouse if it is not installed. The Logitech MX518 truly deserves a 5/5!
